My Love...

I don't think it is possible to love this little girl any more than I already do!

P.S. We are both definitely ready for spring!

Happy Valentine's Day...

I am not a fan of Valentine's Day really. I think it is an over-commercialized, over-hyped, holiday for companies looking to make a buck now days. I think that any day of the year is a great time to show those you love them and not with flowers, boxes of chocolates, fancy dinners, expensive jewelry, etc. But to show those we love with kind words, thoughtful gestures and caring attitudes. With that being said, there is one thing about Valentine's Day, the Brachs conversation Hearts.

This takes me back to when I was a very little girl and my Grandpa would always give my sister and me each a box of these candy hearts. My Mom even has a photo of my sister and me enjoying our candy hearts. So when I see these out in the store it brings back a fond memory of my Grandpa. And they had to be Brachs, not some generic version or some Sweetheart tart, whatever you call it heart shaped candies. BRACHS! Even as an adult I still like to eat one at a time, but before popping the candy in my mouth I read what is written on the heart. I sat down and did this with Ava tonight as we were eating our heart shaped candies. Some of the sentiments have changed like the one I had tonight that said LOL, but I hope that Ava one day has fond memories of her Brachs heart shaped candies, just like I do.

Reading is FUN-DA-MENTAL...

Often times I find it quite amusing the books Ava picks out from her school library. When she comes home with a Disney Princess book, that is to be expected and doesn't surprise me at all. But often times she comes home with books and I have to wonder why she picked that particular book.

She is only 5 years old so it must be the cover of a book that draws her attention to it. But this cover? I mean the lady has some hair that looks like a queen from the 1700 and early 1800's would wear. And a pig...ummmm hog on the front. She likes the movie Charlotte's Web but she doesn't have an obsession with the movie.

But hey whatever gets her to read I am ok with that...well as long as it is kid friendly of course. She needed some help with this book, but by the last several pages she was doing great on her own. It amazes me to watch her sound out words and string the words together in sentences when she is reading. It also amazes me at how far she has come in just the last 4 1/2 - 5 months since starting Kindergarten.
