Live Your Life...

I've been doing a little bit of digital scrapbooking lately.  Which for me anymore might work out a lot better.  Ava might actually get some books with layouts of her done.  And I love it because it isn't nearly as messy!  The template and the scrapbook kit I used came from Sweet Shoppe Designs.  I <3 that company and I've amassed quite a collection of kits that I am finally putting to use.  Hoping to get enough pages together that maybe by the end of the year, I will have a photo book made.

The layout was pictures of Ava in her "rock star" clothes that she loves to wear.  I also included some photos of her rocking out on the Rock Band game with her cousins.  Love this little girl more than she will ever know.  :)

Ava has been so excited to go see this movie for weeks.  Every time the previews show up on TV, she is glued to the screen.  Her Poppy had promised to take her when it came out even. Then on the day the movie came out, she was so disappointed because she had a softball game that same evening.

(Ava & Alyssa posing with the cutout)

However, her Poppy came through and promised they would go on Sunday to see the movie.  All was right in her world and she was one very happy little girl.  She even went with her cousin Alyssa.  Overall, she loved the movie.  There were a couple scary parts, but nothing she couldn't handle.  After the movie, she had a sleepover at Alyssa's house.  All in all, a very good day for my little love.

That's Gotta Hurt...

Ava wore earrings to her softball game tonight...not that big of a deal, until she went to take off her helmet.  She ripped that earring right out.

Poor kid.  She put on a brave face and didn't cry, but she definitely would have, had she not been in front of all her friends. She even went back out on the field and played more in the game after a little bit.  :)

Not So Bummer Summer 2012 Journal

I finally...finally...finally got around to taking pictures of Ava's  journal.  This summer I thought it would be fun for Ava to keep a journal for the first time.  Also, it makes a fun way to keep her writing and to practice on her handwriting as well.  Ava is a fan of Judy Moody Not Bummer Summer, so we kind of went with the "Not So Bummer Summer 2012".

At first I thought a notebook would be ok,  but then decided putting it in a binder would be a better idea.  So Ava and I went to Staples and she picked out a lime green clear view binder.  We made copies of her journal pages (see below) and added them to the binder as well.  We created the cover on the computer at home and printed it out.  I could have pulled out the cricut and created something, but Ava wanted this.  So that's what we went with.

We made a list of summer ideas of fun things to do this summer.  Initially we had a list of 50 things, but the list grew, so this isn't the most recent version.  We have a list of 85 things to do hopefully do this summer.  I'll write the list of her summer ideas in another post.  :)

Ava is taking part in her summer reading program at the library, so we are keeping a list of books she reads over the summer.  The reading level she was assigned too, was way too easy for her and she was reading all her books in a day or two and so I had her moved up to a higher level.

This is one of her journal pages.  With this one she can draw a photo and then write about it below.  We are working on the handwriting this summer and I am trying to get her to slow down a little and take her time with her writing.  Oh the energy of a soon to be second grader.  :)  I am glad though it is legible.

Here is the other journal page.  No drawing. Just writing.  It asks what she did that day and then what was her favorite part about that day.

I also have blank paper in the journal for her to draw pictures of things she does over the summer.  She is a kid after all and I love seeing the drawings she creates to tell a story.  I also have a page that still needs printed for movies we watch over the summer, be it at home or at the movie theater.  I am not a huge TV person, but catching a movie with her at the theater or at night as a way to unwind after a busy day sounds perfect to me.

There will also be photos included in the journal as well.  What would a journal like this be without photos?!?!  :)  I am looking forward to seeing how things unfold with this journal over the summer.  Should be lots of fun.  I know she has some great ideas on her list of summer fun.

It makes me giggle...

Every time I see these two pictures of Ava, I cannot help but giggle.  Seriously.

I think it is the goggles that make me giggle.

Or maybe it is her expression as well.  Regardless this girl knows how to make this Momma smile and laugh.

Macon County Fair

It's that time of year again...the Macon County Fair.  Ava loves going to this little fair.  She likes the rides, games, and the food, of course.  What would summer be if you didn't hit at least one fair or festival of the year.

Ready to go...

She loves this ride...it is a kiddie ride, but she has a blast every year riding it as it whips around the corners quite fast.

Woooooo Hoooooo!

The big slide!

Trying to win some goldfish!

Looks like we are going to be getting a new pet or two!

Well she won and she got to bring home two new fish!

Sometimes you have to look at life with a new perspective!  :)

Yesterday I spent some time at the pool with Ava, Kylar, and Olivia. Olivia was full of fun poses and silly faces, as well as some super cute sassy-ness! This girl has more attitude in her little finger than I have in my entire body.  She totally makes me smile...most of the time anyway.  lol

Olivia being Olivia!

Isn't she absolutely stunning.  Her Mom has her hands full with this little beauty.  She could totally be a model one day...or even now.  :)
